India’s journey in T20 World Cups has been a saga of transformation. From the historic inaugural 2007 triumph in South Africa to the heart-wrenching "title drought" that followed, the Men in Blue finally reclaimed glory in 2024. Now again in 2026, they have established 3 stars on the blue jersey and create an era of global dominance. 

In the Ahmedabad final, the Indian men were unstoppable against New Zealand. Opting to bat, they posted a mammoth 255/5, the highest-ever total in a World Cup final. Abhishek Sharma set the tone with a record 18-ball fifty, while Sanju Samson’s 89 and Ishan Kishan 54 decimated the Kiwi attack. Defending the total, Jasprit Bumrah was clinical, taking 4/15 to bundle New Zealand out for 159. With this 96-run victory, India scripted history by successfully defending their crown on home soil, cementing a golden era under captain Suryakumar Yadav.

Throughout this home tournament, India displayed brilliant consistency. Despite a dominant start, they faced a "do-or-die" Super 8 clash against the West Indies at Eden Gardens. Chasing 196, Sanju Samson’s magnificent 97 rescued a great start, securing a semi-final berth and keeping the nation's soaring dreams alive.
